Discrimination matter

Read James Baldwin’s “Going to Meet the Man” and  New York Times essay by poet Caroline Randall Williams. Then explain how these works  question the ideas embedded in words like “culture,” “identity,” and “heritage.” What seems to be the main objections these authors have to the ways in which these ideas are typically used by those who would claim them as part of their identity? as you assess this controversial subject, can you think of ways you personally relate to the conflicts explored in these works?
